Dr. Titus always had a vision to have qualified people go to India to teach music so that seminary students could lead praise and worship in addition to being seasoned ministers of the gospel.
Jameson Titus is now running with his dad’s vision to bring a music program to the whole campus in partnership with Open Doors Music.
Almost two years ago Gavin Audagnotti, Founder of Open Doors Music www.opendoorsmusic.org shared his vision and mission with Jameson of implementing music learning programs to help ministries and humanitarian organizations train people in their care. Jameson immediately connected with that vision because he always had a desire to see the incredibly talented students on campus learn music but had not found a way to implement his desire.
Gavin has had a friendship and relationship with Jameson and Christ for India Ministries for over 6 years ‘ serving CFI ministries in music at the annual partner’s banquet.
Open Doors Music in partnership with the London College of Music exams, who administer the curriculum and examinations, has made preliminary assessments by sending an examiner to India to meet with Jameson.
Discussions have centered on implementing a music program as a core subject in phases beginning with 750 school students.
New life children’s public school currently offers LKG [lower kindergarten], UKG [upper kindergarten] , classes I to X and Christian Jr. College.
This is equivalent to K-12 grade in the US. Every class offered is the same as in the US except for music
Phase 1 will include a wind instrument, the recorder and a stringed instrument, the guitar. Students will also learn Grades 1- 8 music theory including sight reading of music. Phase 1 will be implemented starting the third term in September.
Recorder will be offered in regular class with 35 students per class for all ages and all 750 students. Guitar will be offered for ages 10 and up and offered in smaller groups of 2-3 students as an elective class only.
Phase 2 will be a comprehensive music program for the seminary students that ties in with the degree program. Discussion about phase 2 is ongoing.
Project cost to follow soon. Please pray for this project and how you may be involved and feel free to email Gavin with questions at gavin@opendoorsmusic.org |
